Hi group! It's been awhile hasn't it! I see people still do, drop by here now & then. A total of three people at once, constitutes a crowd. Yippeeeee! I usually zip in & out everyday. If just to see if anyone needs any help. Though with the coming of Sims 2, people don't seem to need as much assistance as before.
I haven't been playing the game much anymore. I sort of got fed-up with the slow loading time. Of course, everyone knows what causes that. Too much custom stuff, ha ha! But then, who could possibly play without 'it' & the delightful hacks.
I've mentioned in my past postings, the other interests that have drawn me away from the Sims games. The PS2 games, other computer games, my Gundam collecting hobby & my other newest hobby the resin model kit collecting & building. I've since gotten quite a large number of them. I still don't have an airbrush, though you really don't need one (at least to start with). People just find they make for a smoother finish. As they don't leave brush strokes, particularly when you are doing large areas.
Did I get anybody in the Sim Community interested in this hobby? If so, here is a link I came across recently with a nice tutorial for building & painting, etc. resin kits:
codyscoop.com/
Click on the How-To, in the menu at the top of the webpage & it will take you to the tutorial.
I can't remember if I mentioned before, the very good model building & painting 2 DVDs called ModelMania (Volumes 1, 2 & 3 & Volumes 4 & 5) by David Fisher. I'd recommend them as well, as they are a great help with the painting. As pictures are always worth a thousand words, as the saying goes!
Sorry if I'm boring anyone with this non-Sim subject. I'm just mentioning this hobby, as it is art related & so to is making stuff for the Sims. Even if in a little less solid way. One all computer generated & the other in solid materials. Both are communities too! Though the Sims one, seems to be older (6 years old) & with a large percentage of females. The resin/garage kit community is somewhere around 3 to 4 years old & largely male. Though there are both genders, in both of these communities. As well as all age groups. Well not really young children in the resin group, because of the epoxy putty stuff that is used. There are teens though.
Anyway, again I hope I'm not boring anyone here. Though I'm sure most of you are used to my long ramblings by now. Since I've been coming here off & on for the past 6 years. Even if my thread posting total doesn't reflect it all. Since I did a lot of my early on postings, before I registered & became a member. Oh, those great early days, when this place was so busy. Though I try not to remember that 'bad time', when I was 'flame-attack' by some angry person, who thought I was someone else. I've still never forgiven that 'little dear'. But thanks to Lalia, you got me back again!
Why I've mentioned that episode at all, is because I've 'sort of had a small ripple of it', at that resin modelling forum that I'd mentioned before. Not like 'that past time', just something that reminded me of it & made me uncomfortable to be there. I'd only posted on that site a few times, mostly because I didn't have much to say, being new to that hobby. I'm really more of a quite observer, than an actual mixer. You can learn quite a bit by just watching & reading. Anyway the last time I posted something there, I did it after midnight (my usual time for creative prose) & it was quite long (my usual style, ha ha). I didn't re-read it, before I posted it & left. So I went back several days later & two people had 'yapped' at me about it's length, no spacing & it was no wonder not many people had looked at it. On this forum, they post the number of times people have read your posting.
Now, I couldn't care less now many people had read what wrote. That isn't why I wrote it. I usually only write to give information. What ticked me off, was that they would yap about something like that in the first place. Considering there are tons of other people who have postings, that are extremely long & even some without any capital lettering. Nobody yapped at them! Anyway, I logged in, completely removed my posting & diplomatically wrote them a reply, wished them goodbye & left. I haven't decided if I'll ever post there again, but I do still go there now & then to read it.
The other thing that left me feeling uncomfortable about that forum, was the feelings that I was getting from the Rant & Complaint thread. The constant nagging on & on about how horrible the Hong Kong site E2046 is. These people must have some huge grudge from the past with that site or something. I've never had any problems with that site or the resin kits that I've bought from them. I buy kits from both E2046 (Hong Kong) & HobbyFan in California. Both are excellent with service & products, at least I've always found them so.
Henry of Hobbyfan (he is one of the owners) is very understanding & helpful when you write to him, about one of their products. So to, is Clarence (my contact person) at E2046. Sure, I'm not too keen on the some of E2046 constant sale pitch stuff. You get quite a bit of that in 'their' forum, so I don't go there very often (besides you have to log in to read it anyway). But you have to remember, Hong Kong is part of China now & their's is a huge growing marketplace, with a large amount of pressure to grow even more. So it is understandable they would have all this advertisement talk going on all the time. Anyway, I usually don't get it from Clarence when we email. We usually chat about Gundam Seed & related stuff. It's nice to exchange different cultures. Anyway, I still don't see what problem those people in the HobbyFanantics forum have with E2046. Something to do with the owner name Simon, which is about all I can make of it. Not that I really want to know that is. Far too much ranting on & on. It's like a vendetta or something!
Enough with all that! Didn't I say something about being boring, sorry No wait, one more little boring item. Does anybody like to watch boats? Big freighters! How about the Panama Canal? I posted this link over at that other forum, but I don't think they cared for it very much. Too slow for them maybe. Anyway, I like to watch it now & then. The camera is live, it just isn't live action. The screen has to refresh to change, so it is more of a series of still photos every several seconds. But it is great to see the boat move suddenly or the water in the Lock to suddenly drop or rise. You will have to have Java installed on your computer for it to work, here is the link:
www.pancanal.com/eng/phot...-java.html
Seeings as I started to type this, when it was still Xmas & it is now after midnight, Boxing Day. I'd better wish everyone a Happy Season's Greetings & early Happy New Year. Here is a link to some greeting card, that somebody sent to somebody else, etc. then to me. I had it posted on that other site too, but I remove it. So I'll post it here with this friendlier community:
www.jacquielawson.com/vie...ER13610552
Finally for any Gundam Seed fans, who are maybe in the Sim Community. If you have only watched the English voice dubbed versions, you will never have seen the OVA special extra bit that was made after the original series was ended. This bit is 5 minutes long & is sort of a tie in bridge to the upcoming Destiny. It has never been English voice dubbed. It was only included on the original Japanese version Specials. It is called Between The Stars, also sometimes called Gundam Seed OVA/ Between The Stars.
You might wonder why I'm mentioning this, after I was talking about Season's Greetings. Well this very nice little 5 minute episode, sort of reminds me of a quite family gathering. Something like a Thanksgiving, etc. Which is when, I originally thought about posting this item. Anyway, if you would like to see it & if you are still in luck. Go to YouTube & in the search window, type Between The Stars. I know there was two postings of it still there tonight. But knowing how Google has been cracking down recently on 'all things', you might luck out. The posted versions are what is known as a Fan-Subs, as it has English sub-titles, so you can read what is being said.
If you are really keen, you can even save a copy of it to your computer. It's a long run around though, as I've done it (just for this little special). As most screen capture programs don't work on YouTube. You have to write down what the address is for your chosen video. Then go to another site (you'll have to find one of these yourselves), type your address thing into their window, then it will capture the video for you, then you save the file. It will be in a formatte called FLV. Then you will either need a player to see it in this formatte, or you will need a converter to convert it into a common AVI. Then run some spyware removal programs later, in case you have picked up some crap too (I did). Anyway I managed to collect this nice little piece for my collection of all things Gundam Seed/Destiny. Well, it's after 1 AM & my typing 'muse' is running low, so I'll probably come back some other time to write about more rather boring stuff, ha ha. Bye for for now. SEJ
P.S. Sorry if anything is spelled wrong, sentence structure incorrect, etc. but I didn't prove read it. I'm off to bed now.
